Arrow Old Cars

RelayRides doesn't want people renting out cars older than 1997 and with over 125,000 miles.

Those are the only cars I would want to rent out on RelayRides though!

I would post a disclaimer in my car stating that by driving it you automatically assume all responsibility and absolve the owner and any mechanics 100% of any damages or injuries to self and passengers whilst driving the car. Then I'd like to see em sue!

I'm sure there is still a way though

Thumbs down Fatal Accident

I was just sent an article in the NY Times about a Fatal Accident when someone was renting a car using RelayRides!

Here is a post on Google+ by the owner of the car after the accident. Here is her post about the article.

Maybe only if you're driving a 1989 Honda Civic that burns oil and has rod knock. Otherwise, you would have to be an absolute idiot to agree to this "service".

The real funny part is when your car becomes property of the state police because a couple of "urbanites" get arrested trafficking drugs in it.

You should look at the comments on there, if the accident wasn't so tragic with loss of life, some of them are downright funny in naivety:

Wow, scary. Is the car repairable? Even if it is - I'm not sure I'd be comfortable driving a car where someone died. Gives me the shivers.
Oh yeah, because a car involved in a head-on collision with loss of life couldn't possibly have sustained much damage...it bothers me to know that people like this are out there AND THEY VOTE!

Exclamation Insurance!

I wouldn't be surprised if Insurance Companies publicly state they will not insure people if they personally rent out their vehicles with these services!

Good idea, just too many legal gray areas!

True there are many legal gray areas with these personal car sharing services. States will probably start to pass laws on this to protect owners and renters eventually.
