I bought this set last time it was on sale for $60 and it was worth it then. Now it is $50!

If i didn't already have that metric set i'd be all over this. No real use for SAE though.

Like Everyone else has said, this is the chinese Gearwrench, not Taiwan. Not that ive bought either...
![]() But they do the same thing Home depot does. On black Friday home depot had Husky Wrenches made in INDIA, not even in China. They were half the price of Chinese Husky, and looked horrible. GW is Doing the same, but with China Specials and Taiwan regular, opposed to Slumdog Millionaire specials and Chinese regular. |

I had a friend tell me there was a set of KD sockets on sale via Amazon, this was right as they were being phased out. I ordered them, and got the plastic gear wrench case. I was fit to be tied, but the price was like $50 dollars shipped. I just figured they were Taiwanese and didn't say anything- I needed 6 point 1/2" sockets for working on my Softail.
I was examining a socket one day after the case was left out in the rain and happened to see KD stamped into the socket. They were USA KD's with the old KD PN that had the Gold Gearwrench painted logo and PN applied. |

Does anyone have any experience with the Craftsman flat non-reversible ratcheting wrenches that were made in the USA? I recently purchased this Gearwrench 20 pc. special, but didn't realize it was a lower quality Chinese made set instead of Taiwan. I have yet to use them. You can get a discontinued metric 8 pc. USA Craftsman flat non-reversible set for about the same price online. I would only use the SAE peices in the Gearwrench occasionally. If I ever broke one of the Craftsmans though, I would have to exchange it for a Chinese one. Opinions? Does anyone familiar with the USA Craftsmans think it would be a good idea to buy those and return the Gearwrenches? If the quality of the old USA Craftsmans isn't great, I wouldn't bother.

Thank you for the advice. I'm going to keep them. For 20 wrenches at $50 it seems to be a pretty good deal.

I was wondering if there was a way to tell what country these were made in, I see a lot of people stating that they are china vs taiwan but I just got a set of these for $40 (with a $10 coupon) from sears and on the box it states that they were made in taiwan. The wrenches say nothing about where they were made though. Not that it really matters when I am getting ratcheting wrenches for $2 a piece but it would be nice to know.
