Default Security Camera Cages

Trying to find US distributors for steel cages to put around exterior security cameras. I've got a camera that hangs about 9 feet from the ground that I'm going to install, only place to locate to scan that area, and I would like to protect it by putting a steel cage over it. Doing some searches on the internet the only distributors of such I've been able to find are UK businesses as the info from EBAY UK noted below.

Steel Mesh Cage 5" Square Protect CCTV Security Camera Systems & Flood Lights UK

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steel-Mesh...item19cdc13e6d

Thanks

That does not appear to be to me to be very effective. The mount hardware looks to be the week link.

I would check into gymnasium equipment places. There are cages around the exit signs, the light switches, emergency lighting, etc. at our school. Mounting looks to be about the same. I would guess the fastening system will be the weak link in keeping from being stolen.

That looks gross.
What are you trying to protect it from?

We have big problems with people moving them out of location by pushing
them with a long stick or rod. Not sure if those would really prevent that or not.

It's been a long time since I have seen a security camera installed that isn't a dome to prevent tampering and damage. So I guess I didn't see the use.

Seems a much better choice, as a stick can still move a normal camera through a cage.

might even make it easier, the cage would add a point of leverage. get UV safe plexi or something like it.

Get a dome camera from SuperCircuits. They have a great demo video of one being smashed repeatedly with a baseball bat. Yea, it could be hit harder, but gives you an idea they can take a beating, yet still stay focused, and aimed where they were pointed.

That is simular to what I replaced the original one with. Those are neat because they really can't tell what direction the camera is aimed to.

What do you do to prevent someone from simply using some flat black spray paint rendering the camera useless? Could you also possibly mount the camera out of arms reach?

Some cameras should be overt, others covert. One overlaps the view of the other.

If someone gets "clever" with a paint ball gun, and obscures the lens of the obvious camera, the other one catches them in the act.

There are many cameras available on the market that look like other things, or come in a small format, allowing the installer to come up with their own housing.

Just because they can't see it doesn't mean it can't see them!
