Thanks for this!
I went for one. This will be good to have low on the wall and near the bench. And the EZ-Coil will be safer.

BTW, If you order before midnight, you get an extra 5% off. Saved $11 total between that and the $5 off deal.

The 25' length kinda ruins it for me. You can't even reach around to a far back tire if you're parked right next to the reel.

I think for $15 more I'd go with this:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...84000P?cw=true

But that's just me...

Really? I would think you'd be able to since my cars are like 15 foot, no?

I was thinking the 25 foot would work fine in my basement. If I like the reel, I can considering picking one up for my garage down the road. But yeah, 25 ft in the garage is a little limiting. I'd want 50 ft because I do string the hose outside the garage bay from time to time, but even if I was restricting use to the nearest bay I'd want 35 ft.

it really depends on where you mount the reel, if you mount it on a 10ft ceiling you only have 15ft of hose left

I think im gonna spring for this, and mount it on the bottom shelf of my work bench, then I will have most of the 25ft to mess around with

I bought one of these as well. I believe (but not certain) that these are also made in the USA. Thanks for the heads-up.

If you figure 3 feet from the reel to the front wheel, then 15 feet to the back of the car, then 7 feet around to the other tire you're at exactly 25 feet. If you don't park perfectly, etc. you've got a problem.

Now, if you're getting it to mount to the ceiling of your shop so you can have an air hose handy for nail guns, air sanders, etc.....well, then that's a whole 'nother story.

Got mine yesterday too. Seemed like an open box reel, but nothing wrong with it, brand spanking new. Only issue is the cox reel box was just dropped into a larger box with no padding material. Well, the coxreel box itself has no padding either. So two layers of cardboard were insufficient to keep the center spindle nut from wearing through the bottom cardboard during it's trip. Every other order sears has shipped to me has been well-packed with packing peanuts (overpacked in fact), so I'm not sure what happened here. Nevertheless, it was annoying, but luckily for me no impact on the fuction of the reel. This thing is beefy and definitely overkill in my basement...but what's wrong with that!

Same thing happen to mine, but, the result was different. I'm taking back to the store for refund. It's made out of brass and got mangled a bit.

Got mine a couple days ago and it had also worn through the box but luckily there was no damage.

Notice the "This Side Up" on the Cox box? They put it laying down inside the Sears box. I have several Cox reels and they all have the same box and packaging or lack there of. If the shipper obeys the guidance on the box, everything should be fine. Mine was laid down as well but suffered no damage.

I got my reel the other day. I had the same shipping issues as everyone else (brass fitting wore hole in box). Also, my reel has some issues with bubbling and peeling paint. I'm going to keep it though as it's going in the shop and doesn't have to look pristine. Good quality otherwise.

Anyone replaced the hose on one of these? Used a longer hose?

Same question. For those of you that recently ordered, does the reel look like it can accommodate a longer hose?

Called cox reels. Gal there stated that the spring tension is designed for that specific hose. I asked about hose replacement and she recommended against it. I wanted a 1/2 hose though. After hearing that I ended up getting a 1/2 x 50' reel. Haven't mounted it yet but retrofitting and then having issues is not what I wanted.

Is you had a 25' and 50' reel parts list and compared parts then you could figure out if the majority of the reel is the same and maybe just change out the spring. Just a thought.
