PVC Grease gun holder

Been thinking about making a grease gun holder and finally did after fishing a couple of pieces of scrap out of my dumpster. It may not be pretty enough for some folks on this forum and I may paint it to make it prettier. For now, it appears that it will do the job and without dripping grease on my floor.

Pictures aren't the greatest, so I'll tell you that it is 2" and 3" PVC. The plugs are not glued some that they can be removed to clean out the inevitable grease drippings. To space the pipe off the plywood, I cut a section out of the scrap pipe. The holes through the front of the pipe were used to drive a couple of small drywall screws into the plywood. That's all there is to it. Cheap and easy.

I suggest that you paint it black to hide the grease.

I have been meaning to do something like this also for a long time now, along with a PVC funnel holder/drain collector. Just never seem to find the time to do these small projects!

I made one a couple weeks ago using a piece of 2-3/8" galvanized fence post scrap. As luck would have it, the inside diameter exactly matches the outside diameter of my grease gun tube. It's a cheapo Plews gun so YMMV with better guns. The buckle is from a fire extinguisher bracket.

Looks great GarageEnvy, but every grease gun I've ever owned has leaked. I hope you have better luck or put something under yours.

This is one of the multi gun holder/carriers that we made. We have four or so routine greases we need so its a convienient grab and go device that has worked out well.

Initially I had planned to have a catch cup/pan under it but I discovered my gun only leaks when it's upside down. In the tip down position, it doesn't leak.

Great idea, I like the idea of the end cap to keep any leaking grease in the tube instead of on the floor.....hole on the side of the tube for the hose is a good idea also. Thanks for the suggestion.

Need to make one of these. Currently keep my grease gun in the bottom of one of my tool boxes in a couple of plastic grocery bags.

Reviving an old thread but stumbled on it while doing a Google image search for grease fun holders. Brilliant, yet simple, DIY ideas. Going to go rummage through my box of misc PVC pipe!

Bought a small section of 4" and 1.5" and a couple caps. Scrounged up some hardware and made 2 (gave second to my Dad). Was going to paint it but decided it was fine as is.

Hmmm. I don't know why I didn't think to do this. I have several of the exact same thing to hold different size wire ties. This is just a little bigger. Mine keep making a mess too and there is no where convenient to put them. I have one small one and one larger one.

I have half a dozen guns. I use 2 types, pink and super black bear **** and like a pipe ****** lever on one and a pistol grip with hose on the other. While we are at it grease. I was buying from the supplier but those guys like to mark up small customers and now buy from the tractor store and Mystic is the real maker anyway. It was half price for single boxes. Well worth the shop even for me.
For home garage would try to get it all down to a single piece, full size pistol grip gun with hose and 1 grease.
I really don't own but one piece I use about a dozen tubes on in a year and do not have battery or air grease and not in bulk. I have had people try to sell me that stuff and its not worth it. With less greasable parts and extended service the use has really gone down.
I improved on this slightly by using a trash bag duh
My bud had a common auto repair garage, used about a tube a year. For the hobby type its a must have item for sure but it spends a lot of time stored, no doubt somewhere out of the way and neat would be as import and as ease of use. In my own case its very frequent but not much.

This is what I need, something that catches the grease ozing out of the end.

Good idea.

It seems that there was another similar one a while back.

Use a threaded PVC cap, so you can take it off occasionally and clean it out.

Great idea, OP. Wonder if something similar would work for oozing caulking guns?:dunno:

On mine, I didn't glue the caps on so I can easily pull them off to clean. However, they're on well enough that they won't work lose or fall off.

As for the oozing caulk guns, I found at HD or Lowes these yellow plastic caps that fit over the tips of the caulk. Skeptical at first but they were only a couple bucks for a pair so I got a pair and they work well. Stops the oozing and keeps the caulk from drying up in the tube.

Here's mine. I always keep mine at my toolbox as to not get it mixed up with other grease guns and to make sure it doesn't walk off. PVC and a half of a magnetic paper towel holder. I went with the magnet so it's always on my box but I can move around if I want. Plus is stays out of the way. I didn't cap the bottom. It usually never sits long enough to leak much if any. Sprayed it John Deere green to match my John Deere box.

Paper towel holder was the first and only thing I've ever purchased or plan to ever order from HF. That's only cuz my local Menards was out of their "ToolShop" branded ones. Which I might added are better.

So I've posted my first holder. I've added to it since

I keep them on the side of the box but it's easier to see displayed on the front. To the right is my previously posted holder. It addition I made one for my rarely used small grease gun and one to hold my caulking gun.

I also found this holder sitting around the shop so I shot some paint on it and attached it to my cart. Comes in handy when I'm servicing things.

You'd be correct. I haven't added it to the HF mod thread yet. Had to paint it green to match my tool boxes.

yes but in the comment above it you said the shop towel holder was the only purchase you have ever made or plan to make from hf. :eyecrazy:

That is true. I'll give you that. The only reason I got the cart from there was because the shipping was cheaper than another site for what was identical cart. Plus I didn't want to pay $300 for a Homack then sand it and paint it. I can say with the way I have the cart loaded it probably won't last long. Plus now having actually been I store to a HF I can say I won't be getting g anything else. I was not impressed by any means. Only thing I thought was decent was the toolboxes and the 5 drawer cart and I have no need for those.
