Hi,
I'm new to this site and found a lot of good information here. Seen many that are close to my model but not quite.
It's a 4 ton, have the TM 9-4910-701-14&P manual but doesn't explain all the screws on the cylinder and what they are for. The paint is pretty thick so the markings are probably buried under it.

Hard to pump when under a load and trying to locate a leak. if you have any info on the screws and what should be done at this point please let me know. Also if you know where I can get front wheels and associated parts would be great!

Here are some pictures:

Thanks,

The valves offer NO adjustment.. Outside of the overload, which won't address your issue. It's hard to diagnose over the Internet, because the jack is supposed to be harder to pump under load (after it switches from the high/low) if it is extremely difficult, try backing the compression nuts off a bit on the pump pistons, maybe they have been over tightened... ???? Inspect the pump pistons/main ram for any Metal to Metal contact. I might have some used front wheels, but anything New will be NOS and probably pricey, especially since the current HW doesn't have anything to do with that Jack anymore.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Read a lot of your posts thanks for the info from them. Very interested in getting the correct wheels for it. Is the oil fill the one closest to the (what I think is) reservoir sort of on a slant?

You think I can use the excellent post you did "Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial" to work on this jack??? As far as checking the seals?

Very few similarities between your typical Yasui based jack and that HW, your jack is a Quick lift, with its own pump piston, with that said... Your jack isn't too terrible to service. HW had some small quirks to prevent unauthorized service centers from working on there jack, but most can be overcome.

If its not leaking and working properly.. I would just use it... Both pump pistons utilize Vees and if you notice any leaking you can sometime remedy the leak by tightening the nut a "little"

Wanted to replace some key seals because it looks like no service has been done. Only have a small leak i think at the release Valve. You think it's better just to go after the small leak and leave the rest until problems come up? I guess if it's not broke don't fix it!

Well the leak ended up being the front seal. Not a bad job, just tough rolling it around to remove the bolts and clips. Also the nuts on the shafts were way to tight and now lifts very well.

Thanks for your help and I'm now going to do my 2 1/2 ton Craftsman.

Hey Hiball if you would I could use your expertize on that one too!!!!!

Thanks again,

Dave
