Wiring up my old Scaife compressor (temporarily)

I've frankensteined an old compressor together and I want to see how she runs. So I've wired it up to what I think will work but I'm a bit skeptical. Can someone tell me if I can run it like this or will I blow it up with it wired this way?

For temporary power, I've got a laundry cable with an RV plug that will plug into my 40A welder outlet. I'm running that into the pressure switch. I don't know what the "M" and "L" mean? L= "Load" perhaps? Then taking two wires from there to the motor. (The motor had these extra, numbered white wires that had to be run in certain pairs to make the motor spin the way I wanted.) The red wire-nutted wire is a ground that was in the laundry cable. I just ran it over to the motor plate base and screwed it to that. Do I even need that?

Yes, this is a dangerous total spaghetti mess of wires, but I just want to fire her up and see how she runs. I won't be running it this way for more than a couple tank fill-ups.

Will this make the motor run? Or do I have my wires crossed and will blow the thing to bits when I flip the breaker on?

Check the thread you linked to. Your answer is in there. The way you show it in the pics will create a dead short across both hot legs when the pressure switch is closed.

The "L" is Line for the power in connections and "M" is power out for the motor connection. As said your current connections are wrong.

Yup! Wired wrong! If u look at the back side of the pressure switch, opposite the side the wires are on, u will see how the switch completes the circuit!
