Last August I had my garage painted with Sherwin Williams epoxy paint and sprinkles. Then they laid down SW Armorseal 1K Clear waterbased Urethane Enamel. The floor looked great for awhile then the brown tire marks appeared from our two cars. I have left emails and phone messages to SW asking how to clean off the marks but got no response. Their MSDS says "Do not use hydrocarbon solvents for cleaning". So, what the hell can I use???????

I would appreciate any suggestions from you folks.

If you are not able to clean them off, chances are it is a chemical stain from a compound in the tires. You would need to sand off and recoat.

Justin,

Thanks for your reply. I was afraid that I will have to sand and re-coat. This is absurd because SW touts that the clear coat is impervious to staining and is used on warehouse and professional garage floors.

My experience has been that nothing is stain proof. We have products that are stain resistant and we can manufacturer coatings to be resistant to specific chemicals but it is almost impossible to make a single coating that is impervious to everything.
