Seamless gutter work

I need to remove a section of seamless gutter about 25' to repair the wood that it screws to. The middle section is sagging heavy. The old gutters did not go around the house completely. It stopped over the front porch roof so all the water would just run off to the patio roof causing the wood to get damaged.

How would you guys that have had to take out a section of gutter and reinstall without calling someone to do it? I have seen the joints for the 5" gutters at Homedepot and was thinking of doing that.

Any help would be appreciated.

How would you join them back together? With the joint from HD and joint compound?

Snips will give you a cleaner cut and then just use the joint overlay piece and gutter sealer (silicone). Good as new

What about nailing a bracket on the under side to hold the gutter in place while removing straps/ fasteners. Then have a buddy help you lower it down to the ground using two ladders. That way it stays seamless. Good luck

It's only 25 feet. Tear the whole thing off and dump it. Fix your wood. Buy 30' of gutter from anywhere but Home Depot, and make sure it's at least 24 ga. Install it yourself using new gutter spikes and ferrals nailed into the rafter tails, or faschia. Minimum flow towards the outlet tube is 1/8" per foot drop.
If you get 10 foot sections, lap them at least 2" and seal with a good caulking, or solder them. If you search, there are many types of gutter and downspout available in all sorts of architectural styles.

I go with the idea of scrapping it and replacing it.
Seamless gutters used to be a big deal, but now days they can drop off a 25 foot piece and be out of you driveway in 20 minutes.

If you want to save them, and you have wood soffits, just screw some lath into the soffits and out under the gutters about 18 inches. Then you can pull the gutters off and let them rest on the lath while you work behind them.

You a right. I am just being a cheap *** wanting to save the gutter. I just need to do it right.

I ordered ours from HD, not in-store stock. It was delivered on a semi as they were 33' sections. They've been up about 8 years and no problems. :dunno:
