I picked this 46 lbs. arbor press up for free last week.

No name on it.

Anyone recognize / know the manufacturer?

Or is it someone's shop project?

Should meet my needs either way.

Yeah I would agree all the commercial arbor presses I have seen were cast iron. That looks like a shop project but a damn nice one.

One of the projects in my high school machine shop class was an Arbor press. Smaller then the one night you have. I didn't bother making it because I didn't see a use for it other then cracking nuts. I do have a nice tap wrench I made though.

Looks like it is a college machine shop project, first year.

Exactly, I have a drill press (for a hand drill) and a small paper punch from my machine shop training. These guys did a nice job on that arbor press.

Good score for the price. Show us a project completed using the press and it could be worthy of a 'you ****' :lol_hitti

The 2 socket head bolts that hold the back to the base are in bending. That's a weak point. You might want to weld the base to the back.
