Home Depot Dewalt DW745 Table Saw $229 B&M YMMV

Saw this on Slickdeals last night but online it shows OOS for all of the stores near by, probably b/c it's on clearance.

So I went to my HD first thing this morning and they had 4 stacked up at the Pro Desk with a sign saying $229.00. Only coupon I could scrounge up was $5 off $50 for signing up for HD Pro online. 10% off from Lowes might work too if you have one. Heck if you buy with a HD card they will probably give you 5% off like Lowes does.
This might be a YMMV because it looks like these are on clearance, so I would call ahead before driving all over town.

My saw has the 20" rip capacity although HD website says 16". I think they upgraded the DW745 sometime in 2012 so if you can find a mfg date on the box that might give you an idea if it has the upgrade. I noticed that the floor model was also on sale but it was only 16" rip and missing parts. Might be able to get the floor model cheaper if it's the last one available but check for missing parts and it's likely only a 16" rip.

Hope this helps someone out, I've been watching this saw for a few months since the DW7480 came out with the 24" rip capacity. It had dropped to $299 around Thanksgiving and now it's officially on clearance. Saved enough to get a stand later.

I just called mine and they said they would. Fine print says not for discounted items so up to you if they will.

thanks for the tip on this! All my stores were out of stock and one would sell the display which was body only for $169. Called the 800 number and the lady matched the price! She did call the store to verify though.

Because Home Depot will take competitor coupons. I would call the store and confirm that they will take the coupon. Some stores don't.

There is a thread about it on GJ

I have been able to use a HF coupon at two different Lowes and two different Home Depots.

Each time I go and put the product in the cart, go to the register and hand the cashier the coupon and ask them for a price match. They will ask for approval from the manager or a price over ride. I then walk out with a great deal. :rocker:

This as worked for me 5 out of 5 times. Two times I was allowed to bundle the deal with a free tool promotion that Lowes was offering.

I never ask prior to the purchase, I just smile and do not rush them.

I was very nervous the first time but all they can do is say No. :beer:

Don't over think it, I know it does not make any sense but it seems to work most of the time.

So, I went a back there tonight. They didn't take the Harbor Freight coupon. They said the only one they would take are same product, or Lowes 10% off. Oh well, hell of a deal at $229!

Sorry it did not work out for you. Like it has been said some stores do and some don't. :dunno:

I would still try the HF coupon the next time because I think it depends on whom ever waits on you at the store. :beer:

According to toolguyd.com they found it on the box. I do not see that print on my box but I assumed that since that article was written in Dec. 2012 that if I found a mfg shipping label to HD dated 2013 that I should be in the clear. I did also notice that of the three boxes stacked up two newer (less dust) looking boxes were a lighter almost faded yellow where a much dustier/older looking box was a much richer darker yellow. This is just an observation, could mean they use multiple printers for their packaging. According to Dewalt.com the saw is advertised as a 20" rip capacity.

My Lowes also has the new replacement saw DWE7480 for $329 if you have to have the 24" rip capacity. I personally would rather put that $100 towards the DW7440RS :drool:

. I might eat those words if I need to rip a dozen sheets of plywood in half, but then I could probably just get them ripped at the store.

You would have to go to HD and take a picture of the saw for $229 or have lowes call HD and confirm the price while you are there

Just bought one at HD. You're right Easytiger864, specs are on the bottom. It did say 20" rip.

I just got finished playing with mine this afternoon. Out of the box this thing is dead on accurate. I think I might grab a 60 tooth blade next week for cutting plywood. I had to masking tape the cut line and go real slow to keep some 1/2" birch plywood from splintering. Other than that I'm happy with it. Maybe even more happy if I can find a great deal on the rolling stand.

Anyone else notice how far in the fence pins are moved in on the racks? Mine have to be 5 or 6 inches from the ends of the racks. I'm thinking those can be adjusted out 4 inches and this baby will do 24" rips all day long. I wonder why Dewalt is holding out on us? I might look at the DWS7480 when I go get a blade and see if the pins are moved out so it can claim 24.5" rip capacity.

I picked up the dw744x on clearance at lowes a couple months back and it's pretty awesome. I also picked up a two pack of blades, one 40t and 60t for $40. I thought it was a pretty good deal.

Thanks all! Yep, took mine out of the box, and found a place to store it, that's as far as I got today. How's everyone mounting this saw? I saw the different stands in Home Depot but I thought I could mount it on my 6 foot folding table. I've drilled holes through it for my scroll saw, benchtop drill press and bandsaw. Seems to work pretty well, and gives you a little more room.

unavailable even for ordering from my HD,Lowes has it for 299 but it would have to be ordered.the 7480 replacement is only available by parcel shipping.

Looks like I need to keep using my old Montgomery wards saw.

I have the same saw, I just move the fence off of the fence pens and use a tape measure and I am good to go at 24 rip. I was thinking about trying to get another set of fence pins so I can have the 24" rip pre set.

I also installed a zero clearance insert as well.

I read somewhere else that if you take the pins out youi can cut 24". You need to use a tape measure though

Anyone use this yet to cut plywood? I am thinking this would be easy to carry and set up outside to do cut/ trimming plywood to keep the sawdust out of the house. Might even encourage me to do more woodworking

I can always get the big box stores to use thier panel saw to cut down the full sheets of plywood. I just hate trying to manhandle a full sheet by myself on the table saw in the basement

I tried cutting some scrap 1/2" birch plywood with it on Sunday and the 24tooth blade is just too rough for anything I want to do. I did a little research this past week and after not finding a bad review, I decided to go with the Irwin Marples 50 tooth combo blade. I picked it up at my local Lowes for 37.98. I also grabbed 4 cans of wheel bearing grease for $.70 each while I was there making my sweep of Hot Deals

I'll swap it out this weekend and let you know how it cuts. I had considered the Dewalt Precision 60 tooth but I liked that the Marples was a combination blade. I really don't want to swap out blades every time I go from making a plywood toy box to cutting strips for a canoe.

Also called my local Dewalt Service Center and ordered another set of locating pins with nuts so I can have a preset at 24". For $4 I figured what the Hell.

229 at my local HD today in Richmond. I tried using the HF coupon I had with me but it was rejected. I didn't have a lowes 10% one with me.
Kind of bought on a whim. I may read up on it more and return it later. Sure is portable and good capability with 20-24" rip. Seems like a good little unit, just not sure if I need it enough to warrant the money and space. Use a decent blade on your saw and your cut will reflect the quality of the blade.

I have found that when ripping plywood, that if you run a strip of masking tape down the cut line first, that you will get a much smoother cut edge. Learned that trick when I was watching my kitchen being installed about 30 years ago.
