First post here so be kind. I have a small one man auto repair shop and getting to old to enjoy creeper time. I am looking at these two lifts and wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

I am not sure who distributes the Challenger in Alberta but I see that I can get the Altas in Calgary, so that make make a difference. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Harold,

The pros and cons of many lifts and/or types of lifts have been debated here many times. I would suggest starting by using the "search" function and type in scissor lift, mid rise lift, etc. Then maybe search by brand. Hundreds of threads to peruse I am certain.

It depends on what sort of repairs you do in your one man shop, but a lot of the mid-rise or scissor lifts have little access for exhaust, transmission work in the mid section of the car. I have a mid-rise lift, and although it is great for many things, it does have limitations.

If I was trying to make a living in a one man shop, I would be trying to find a 2 post lift, as I think they are the most versatile for repair work. But that is just one opinion knowing nothing about your shop or circumstances.

Good Luck

I'll second the 2 post lift. No way I could do the work I've done on a scissor lift. If the funds were there I'd rather have a 2 post in ground lift.

If you have the funds and space get the extra tall extra wide. You will appreciate the extra room in between the posts.

The shop that I am putting it in is only 24' wide, I do not want a post in the center of the floor

I understand you not wanting to have the post in the center of your garage, but like D Dan said, the scissor wouldn't work for all the different vehicle's just in my stable alone. I didn't realize they were that pricey compared to my Bend-Pak 2 post. In the end, you have to ask yourself if it will work for the kind of jobs you will be performing, because if you're putting that kind of money out, you don't want to just settle.

Where in Alberta are you? I am located in Lethbridge.I would recommend a 2 post as well.
