Default Walmart's 3 box ammo limit..

Is history. Went to pick up some at my local store last night, and they had changed the signs up, now it's 3 box limit on .22lr only. Just throwing it out there for anyone that wants to stock up now.

I would be happy with a one box limit if they had any 22LR

Nope, just some cci shotshells. They had some 50 round winchester boxes, about 100 of them a couple months ago, I got 3 for my grandpa since I don't even have a .22, and went back the next day to get 3 more, and they were cleaned out. I keep waiting on them to get the federal 100 round .223 in, but those are few and far between too.

I have been hearing about ammo "shortages" for about a year now. Anyone know why? It's not just Wal-mart, but gun stores and other outlets, too.

Old news.

One reason is hoarders, the other reasons are of the nature I can't speak of or the thread will be locked if you catch my drift.

I gave up even looking a long time ago finding ammo for my 9mm. Haven't shot it in probably a year now. Some day the hoarders and conspiracy theory guys will settle down and I'll be able to pick up a few boxes to go to the range.

I was told by a pawn shop that if you wanted to buy a gun, just go and buy new, that they were not getting any "good" guns in...Richie

walmart almost never has .22. When they do they break open the bricks and will only sell you 3 of the small inner boxes.

I have had luck at my local gun store and Cabelas finding bulk .22 packs.

There are still people waiting outside of walmart at opening time so that they can go in and buy their limit of .22, so unless you get there an hour before opening and stand in line forget about it. These same jerkoffs are selling the $25 bulk pack for $75 or more on Armslist or on a local FB gun group. Thankfully the admin of the group has instated a rule that anyone who comes in and tries to sell hoarded ammo at a 200-300% markup will be immediately banned with no exceptions.

Youre real lucky. The Walmarts in my area allow 3 boxes but they cant be the same caliber. .22 ammo is almost non existent here and when the store has it only one box per day no matter how large or small. And this is at a brand new super store. They also stopped selling guns.
The last time I was able to buy .22 ammo was the Sat after Thanksgiving. They had CCI Tacticals. My son picked up a box and when his girlfriend told the guy she wanted one too the guy gave her a hard time. I was 5 minutes away so I was able to grab a third box. Not that Im a hoarder but that's a half days shooting between two people.

When the new super walmart opened in my town half a year ago, everyone I knew with guns took the day off or scheduled a late start.to be at there early, withing an hour all their ammo stock was sold out and they couldn't keep any stock for months.it isn't a 24hour walmart either.

I found 22LR at a gun show last week and it was triple in price or more. Someone said the $50 price per 500 brick was a bargain and I should have bought it. NO THANKS.

I recently bought a reloading setup and loaded up my first few rounds of 9mm. Still need to go shoot a few and tweak the loads a little, but at least I don't have to drive all over the place looking for a decent price. 22lr is still almost non existent around here too. I have a couple of 325 round packs but am afraid to shoot them because I cant find any to replace them!

Back around five years ago, I went to every gun/ammo store to get .30-06 for hunting season. Nothing to be found, anywhere, I only had about ten rounds left. So I was unable to do any shooting before the season opened. When the rounds finally started to show up, I ended up getting about ten boxes of .30-06 and the same for my.30-.30. So now I have a couple hundred rounds for each of my big game rifles. Probably enough to last me the rest of my life. It was a pretty lousy feeling not being able to buy a box of ammo, to put meat in the freezer. I won't let that happen again.

Gander Mountain was having an ammo sale this weekend (which even their sale prices are a joke, but they do have a decent price on shotshells). I noticed they had decent prices on .22 bricks, but it was limit one so I didn't even bother going today.

Bought 11 cases of Rio 12GA #8 for sporting clays... As we were carting these out to my friend's truck I told him, "This is why a shotgun is not practical if there is a zombie apocalypse"... lol. Should hold us over for the next two or three months.

I haven't been looking at Walmart for anything lately, I'm good on everything. They've always had TONS of rifle ammo, usually plenty of pistol ammo... The only scarcity is the .22LR.
