I was at a industrial tool store today and they have Wright and GP tools on dispaly on the wall. I check out the Wright tools and the overall quality does not look too good. The GP impact socket has thinner wall and much higher quality than the Wright impact socket. The GP price is also alot lower. One of the Wright 1/2 dr breaker bar has a huge crack on the square drive. One of the 3/8 dr breaker bar has a missing ball. Wright tools may be USA made, but the quality is not too good especially for the price.

This cracks me up. I can never understand how a defective tool makes it to a display board. Doesn't anyone actually look at the tool as it's put on display? Are dealer employees just mindless zombies going through the motions killing time? The same applies to the manufacturer's employess as they pack and ship orders too.
As I have written before, no brand, even those with tool trucks is immune from quality concerns from time to time. Yes, it does **** more when the tools are expensive but, all tool manufacturers need to apply more attention to detail when checking the overall quality of their finished products. They could make more money and avoid negative press by ensuring nothing defective leaves the factory.
Yes, those Grey Pneumatic impact sockets are one of the best bang for your buck tools out there. I don't particularly care for their impact swivels but, the quality and range of their sockets is simply outstanding for their price. Speaking of price, shop around as there is a wide price gap between vendors.

I was concerned someone may get hurt from using the 1/2 dr breaker bar (and getting a bad part and have to go through the warranty mess). I told the guy that work there and he was surprise how big the crack is. He took it off the shelf and I took off. Not sure what he will do with it. I didn't tell him about the missing ball in the 3/8 dr beacuse it is not a safty issue.

I dont know if you have ever used wright tools, but i have a complete 1 inch drive socket set with ratchet, a 3/4 inch drive ratchet, and a bunch of random smaller tools from them and they are very high quality. Maybe its possible the store sold "seconds"

If Wright would quit making breaker bars out of old cracked exhaust manifolds, we wouldn't be having this problem. 
I have a 24" older Wright breaker bar and it's my go to breaker bar. Excellent finish and never had any issues with it.

They were great when Wright was usin" FORD mani's but the switch to them "Rams" horn Chevies really showed how crappy cast theys used!Thanks GM!!!!!Maybe some nice Chi-com or south sea produck would suefice!
Not sure if seeing a broken tool on a shelf would turn me off or not.

Judging by some of the broken things I see in stores, I think that being finger-#$%^&* by customers for a month is harder than ten years of use by me.

We began pursuing stocking our trucks with Wright Tools last summer but the economy turned south. We have been carrying Grey Pneumatic impact sockets for years. Great quality and can stand up heavy equipment usage.

I've got several Wright wrenches and a couple ratchets and some sockets. I would have no reservations about using only their stuff.

I was looking thru some of my impact sockets and realized that most of them are Wright... I had forgotten that I bought them after my original MAC sockets disappeared right after any one of my son's used them.
And I still have few remnants of a 1/2" drive Wright SAE set that I bought years ago... never a problem with any of them.

A tool seller at the Carlisle, Pa. car show/swap meet was selling a bunch of new and used American-made tools.
I bought a couple of new NAPA-USA ratchets and a new 3/8" drive Metric shallow socket set, on the cheap.
The Wright metric sockets have held up VERY WELL.....and are my go-to metric sockets.
