Car Craft had rather cursory coverage of this garage. They dedicated an entire 2 pages to it in their Sept 05 issue (page 30/31). The article was simply one large photo taken from the second floor balcony of the 1800’s old west saloon.
They had absolutely zero coverage of the garage except to say: "when he sold his horses, Milton Robson converted the barn into a place to store horsepower. The barn encompasses a palatial 65,000 square feet holding 65 cars." By the way, the garage is in Gainesville GA.
The replica of a 50’ Mobile gas Station is in the back ground of the two-page photo. They are several text boxes scattered across the photo highlighting some of the more unusual or rare cars:
He has 2 x GTOs:
The red ‘70 is a low production Judge convertible with 4-speed.
The black ‘69 is also a 4-speed convertible – 1 of 4 with the Ram Air IV
The white ‘69 Trans Am is 1 of 4 with convertible and a 4-speed
The black (or blue?) ’72 Olds 442 is a convertible 4-speed. It was parked near a pair of Impalas with 409 engines including a factory lightweight Z-11 four speed.
The blue 70 Shelby GT-500 convertible is a – you guessed it – convertible 4-speed with a 428 CJ
He has number 63 (of 69) ’69 red ZL1 (all-aluminum 427) Camaro. It sits beneath an original factory ZL1 neon sign.
The black ’57 Chevy is a convertible 4-speed (go figure) and he has 1 of 1 ’60 Chrysler 300-F convertible with a 4-speed.
Since it was a car Craft article, they focused on the ‘60’s/’70’s muscle cars. But the collection has a fair share of cars from the 30’s and some from the 50’s. I thought the photo was pretty neat until I visited the above web site and discovered his restoration facility appears to be on the premises, as well.
