No idea on if its a good deal, but I can assure you that "deal, good for today only" is just another sales pitch. call back next week and you will get the same price, or maybe even a better one.

Doesn't sound like too bad a deal. Steel prices are nuts right now. I'll assume thats just the shell with a couple of doors. Doesn't include the concrete or does it? I wouldn't rush it, check with some other dealers in the area, ask for references of their past customers. Just my opinion, don't get suckered into that one day only ****, if they can sell it for $xxxxx today and you show interest in "possibly" having them build you a shed they should give the "special today only price" later on.

no concrete. I dont even think thats labor. he made it sould like thats dropped on my property and I build.

I called a local Sutherlands and they gave me a quote on a pole building 30x50x10' $6569, building with a door and 9x7' garage door. $1500 for insulation installed. and 4500 labor if they build it. thats $13,370 total. they said the price was a misprint but they would honor it (seems like a line doesnt it).

If I wanted 12' walls, its a whole new price (didnt get the details)

If this is just for cars and stuff, Is 10' enough? I'm already getting near my limit for this project.

I don't know if there is a Metal Mart in Ark or not, but I just bought a 30 X 40 with 12' eaves (complete bolt together) for $6195. This didn't include any doors just one framed 10 X 10 opening in an end wall. I added enough extra purlins, square tubing, and tin to build a 23 X 40 lean-to carport for the front of the shop and a small 12 X 20 lean-to for the rear of the shop. In addition I got a 3 X 7 walkthrough and a 6 X 7 set of french doors for the rear. I got all of this and all the needed trim and fasteners for $10,000 (sales tax and shipping included). I chose to forego their roll-up doors for some sectional overheads instead. I am going to pay $870 for a 16 X 8 and a 10 x 8 (sales tax and installation included). The slab is going to run about $4900 and insulation will be $1200. So for about $17,000, I will finally have a decent shop to work in.

Now I just gotta figure out how I am going to fund the wiring of the dang thing.

If you are on a tighter budget, you could save some by going with 10 ft eaves, ditch the carport stuff ($2100), and go with smaller doors and no insulation.

If you are thinking about doing this, I would jump on it pretty quick. The manager of Metal Mart here in Waco told me that there was just a slight increase in his kit prices at the first of May (I bought mine at the end of April), and he foresees a more significant hike at the end of May, so I wouldn't delay too much. He told me this after I had already bought my kit, so I don't think it was a sales pitch.

hmmm, now I'm back to steel.

somone sent me a link to http://homepage.steelbuilding.com/

great website and some good prices too.

Before you bite on a steel building (or any building for that matter) do lots and lots of homework, learn all you can.

The quality of steel buildings varys greatly. There are cheap ones, and very expensive ones, and the quality is night and day. I build a medium quality, not the best by any means, but not one so cheap that the primer on the red iron is so cheap that the rust begins to show before its fully up and ready to use.

Learn the terminology for the various parts, know the difference between bypass purlins and the other type (dang it, can't even remember myself, is it **** in?) anyhow, you get the drift, know what you are doing, and how it should be built and you will be better off. Stop at construction sites where metal buildings are being erected and just sit and watch, ask questions to the super if he has tiime, let him know you are trying to learn, most will be glad to take a few minutes to talk with you, and as long as you stay well clear of the work won't mind you watching. I learned alot this way.
