yea whats with the lip, the one i have has an angled chunk on the underside. i dont like it at all haha

That lip or extension underneath centers the vise properly on the bench, also it will take stress off the mounting bolts, say if you were pounding on something from the front. Naturally the drawback is when the vise is laying around they don't sit properly. Its an important piece though.

Ya get the idea..

If you have some you aren't attached to, take them to the next big swap meet and turn them into cash. Bring a friend, and make a day out of it... (I find the point of a swap meet isn't to go home with money, but to go home with more/different stuff!)

With a trailer full of vises, you'd quickly be known as The Vise guy and could possibly turn it into a hobby that actually makes some money.

I've lazily looked for a big vise for a couple years, and finally got one.
Then today I think I lucked out and found a big old Columbian vise for $25.

The first one is going to go on the fab bench I have been collecting parts for.
The second one is going on the vise table I built a few years ago that currently has a big Sams Club/Chinese vise on it.

Oooh sorry I didn't know what you were talking about. Yeah that was a while ago when I first got Behemoth. I posted it on here with little response at first so I tried over there to see if anybody knew anything. That was before the vise cult had really blossomed here.

Got this for free a couple months ago. Made by Jewel Mfg Co. in St Paul, Minnesota and is model No. 1. Seems to be pretty good quality. Maybe you all have seen plenty of these before, but I haven't. It looks like it would be really handy for welding or cutting pipes.

Yes I know it's a chain vise, but it's cool!

Let me add the one I found yesterday

Model 2C Reed. A little tight but not frozen up. Heavy lump! Couldn't leave it for $40!

I think those old Reeds were really dense. They are heavier then they appear. My 3" combo weighs over 50 lbs! That one has to go 60+ lbs. You've really got a nice one.
