i am with avgas. i cannot imagine very many situations were that would be useful because of size and clearance issues. if it has eight fastener sizes but fits eight more i do not think it fits at least eight of them real well. i think some of the cheapest combo wrenches would be better than. i think it is just a gimmick for people who know nothing about tools.

I didn't meant to suggest that I was disagreeing with avgas; I just don't know if his reasoning reflects my own.

I am also somewhat skeptical about how 8 sockets fit 16 sizes, and am leaning towards seeing it as gimmicky as well.

If the price drops from $30 to say, $20-25, it will likely see decent holiday sales nevertheless.

Hmm..

“the sockets are cast to fit both standard and metric bolts with a
special 6-point socket design, offering 16 socket options from 5/16″/ 8mm to
3/4″/19mm”.

Special socket design? Hexagons? That's special? It's just using equivalent sizes, it'll probably be okay for some things, but not perfect for anything.

5/16" = 8mm
3/8" = 10mm
7/16" = 11mm
1/2" = 13mm
9/16" = 14mm
5/8" = 16mm
11/16" = 17mm (?)
3/4" = 19mm

I guess..

EDIT: Just looked at the Amazon link, it is the sizes is guessed. (go me!)

doesnt SO and mac offer sockets that fit multiple "styles" of fasteners? Everything from inverted torx to 8 point to standard 6 point. I dont work on ueropean to often so I didnt pay much attention to them.

5/16" = 8mm no difference
3/8" = 10mm doesn't work
7/16" = 11mm no real difference
1/2" = 13mm works
9/16" = 14mm works but not too good
5/8" = 16mm again no difference (why most cheap metric sets skip 16)
11/16" = 17mm not gonna work to well
3/4" = 19mm, no difference though the 19mm Craftsman 1/2 deep impact socket is $1 more than the 3/4........never will understand that.

I don't know... there seems to be enough of a difference that it might make a difference on softer/lower quality fasteners, and places where replacement fasteners may need to be custom ordered, like on bikes.

I like dogbones... I have one on my oil bucket.. saves a trip to the box for different size drain plugs... however LOFs are the only time I use it.
