Hi guys,

Im a long time lurker. I just started another project, I usually do all the work myself, but due to lack of time, I have given this one to a contractor. I will build my own detached garage when the time comes. The plan is pretty simple, it is a 24' x 24' attached garage with a 9'' structural slab (thus a basement underneath) and a second story above (master bedroom). Here are some photos of the progress so far.

I have a residential design firm and quite a few years ago we did a garage with a home theatre under it. We used pre cast concrete cred panels as the floor. They spanned the distance of the theatre space below.

Cool deal, I guess in Quebec you'd need to dig down deep anyway...why not make it a basement. My brother is thinking of doing a basement below his garage too, GREAT way to get extra storage space!

Hey guys,

Yes it kinda of looks like a grow op/bunker... but there are two decent windows and a staircase going from the garage basement up into the garage and a door to access the the original basement of the house.

The windows were a last minute extra... but thank god I put them! It would have been depressing in there.

The basement is a workshop right now. My 60 gal compressor under the staircase... the hole in the floor is mostly used to pass lumber down. I have a lumber rack on the wall near the 'hole'.

I guess I need to post more photos!

I'm in the same situation. What are the details for the floor to be able to have a clear span room underneath?
