4 Ton Walker Long Frame Rebuild

A few months back I picked up this bad boy for $50. I am going to try and document this as best I can.

Last night was the initial tear down (until 2:30 am, it helped distract me from homework :bounce:

)

Here are a few pics from before pressure washing and a few after. From the other thread, Hiball needed a few bits of information which will hopefully be covered by the pictures and name tags. Please PM me a rebuild kit price

The old boy cleaned up really well!

One decision I am trying to make is sandblast/powdercoat or flapdisc/paint? What are your thoughts?

Looks like you've got a great start, Whats the first 3 numbers on that serial tag? Is it 657?

So I have my rebuild kit ordered (thanks Hiball!) it should be here this week. In the meantime, I took most everything non-cylinder related to the sandblaster on Friday morning. $40 and a few hours later I had all my parts back nice and clean!

I decided to go with the original 'theme' of the jack, but didn't want to mess with original exact match colors. So, blue and white it is!

I recently bought one of those jacks off CL as well. I wasn't planning on repainting mine though, so I'm interested in seeing yours put together.

That there would be concentrated Simple Green. It works OK - not the best, but OK. It at least breaks up all the gunk so the parts can be wiped clean.

Looks Good, That Color is as close as your gonna get to those jacks, Make sure you paint the lift saddle White also. The White handle along with the White Saddle will make it "Pop" in the words of Amy Matthews. Really Looks Good though... :thumbup:

Great job...Wish I could find one in this area but we have a major jack rebuild company based here and they must have spies out looking in every garage within 200 miles of here buying them up. Yours looks great and should last you for many years.

Rather than doing all that work you could have just went to Harbor Freight and got a new one for $49.00.

Just kidding, the jack looks fantastic, beautiful job on the restoration.

It's great to see I nice jack like that being rebuilt to be used again. You probably just added at least another 50 years of service life to it.

If you had to do it again, would you have done anything in your rebuild process differently?

To tell you the truth, I probably would have had the parts powder coated. I debated that for a long time. I had them sandblasted, but just couldn't pull the trigger on the PC. :/

I need to grease it up good, but I certainly expect it to last a good long while! Let's see, I just turned 28, so 50 years would only get me to 78. Is that long enough? Will we still HAVE cars by then? Lol

Sadly its not, This is why i ventured into supplying rebuild kits to the DYI'ers. It was either that or i needed to experiment with damaging seals when reinstalling to shorten there life span. :bounce:

Nice job on your floor jack. I posted a few pics of mine on my thread. I looked at your pictures and mine appears to be slightly different. What color did you use to paint yours? It looks really nice.
