Opinions on lift part

So I bought an Atlas BP9000. After getting the columns mounted, we noticed that one of the mounting plates on the carriage had been flipped and welded incorrectly while being made. So I contacted the dealer and let them know of the problem. The sent out a new carriage. Upon looking at this one, I noticed the holes weren't drilled correctly.

In the first pic, you can see the hole has been drilled off of the metal and isn't completely closed. The 2nd pic is the original piece. While not correct, the holes are done correctly. The dealer is telling me that these would be fine, I told them I wouldn't accept them and am waiting to hear back.

These holes are for the equalization cables, and while they don't do the lifting, they are still under a load and its seems to me it would be a weak point.

Just wanted a couple of opinions.

Not knowing Atlas's reputation I would have to say "Holy ****, what a ****** product FUBAR".
I would not except it either. They may not be part of the lifting system but if a cable is to run through those holes they may impenge (spelling) on the layout of the cable and start to wear on either the cable or this piece.

I would do the same. That looks pretty scary. Imagine, over time, that hole gets wider and wider until the cable slips out! Although I'm sure the lift won't crash down, you may not notice it at first while raising then it binds the cylinders, etc.

You paid good money for the lift, make sure it's what you paid for.

Did you get this rectified by Greg Smith? Thinking of buying from them and want to know what their customer service is like.

I am going to write up a thread on my dealings with buying the lift, but overall it was pretty much a an unpleasant experience to deal with them. I guess if you don't need anything from them other than ordering, they would be fine. It seems to be when there is an issue, that's when the problem starts.

In the end, I did get the correct part. Just got the lift operating yesterday. It took well over a month, too many phone calls on my end, one wrong part shipped by them and just an overall "who cares" attitude from them. I dealt with the Delaware branch.

The most frustrating part was the lack of response from the "manager". The amount of phone calls that were not returned was unbelievable. There was really no game plan by them to fix my problem, and every step seemed to be done only after my continued "pushing".

Anyway, I know there are a lot of satisfied buyers, and I probably would have been if the part wasn't wrong.

I will follow up with the complete story soon.

Good luck.
