This one came today, still waiting on the Kennady. Had I know how nice this box really was I would have skipped the kennady. Pictures do it no justice. It is well built and the finish is stunning. The box has a really really nice powder coat. Very impressed for the 31.99 price. The only downfall I see is if you had it in the back of your truck and it was raining the water would get in the box box in this day in time that may be more incetive to keep it locked inside your vehicle. I'd give this one 5 stars upon first inspection.

The trays open easy daddy

The welds look good and the bottom is sturdy daddy

I give it my personal seal of approval daddy.

If the cat approved it, well hot damn. And for $32, you really can't get much better than that. May I inquire where you got it from?

Where did you get it from, if you don't mind my asking. I've been eyeing that one for a while since I can't find an old Craftsman and am damned if I'm gonna pay the Snap-on price for one.

I doubt you are in anyway disappointed with it. I'm seriously considering returning the Kennady. I really like this one.

I kept one of that design in the floorboard of various trucks for about 30 years. They work good as long as they are not over loaded, which I sometimes did. I think mine cost $11 or $12 dollars in the early 70s, so prices haven't gone up much. Don't remember the brand. I think Snap on still makes one.

Toolboxesdirect. It's now showing 34.99 but the shipping went down 2 dollars

http://www.toolboxesdirect.com/tool-boxes/metal-tool-boxes/excel5compartmenttoolbox.cfm

Since I clicked on that link earlier, I've been seeing toolboxesdirect banner ads on several websites. The ad says that the toolbox is $31.99, but yep, it's $34.99 on the site.

If I didn't already know that the ads were targeting me b/c of my browsing history, I'd say that it was a sign to order a toolbox for myself!

The one thing that really shocked me about the box is how well the powdercoating is done. i was really expecting the whole thing to be cheezy. It's far from it especially for the money. I'll shoot some photos once I get it set up with tools today.

It's the UT22. made in Tiwan or China

Mine is made in Canada and the last time I checked their website it was still listed as made in Canada.

I think it's one of the last s/o's made anywhere except for the far east.

I stand corrected. It's the only cantilever Snap-On has that isn't made in China.

Why do people put meters in with hammers? Can't bode well for the meter. On the other hand that is a nice looking kit you've put together there.

Hmmmmmmmm? Because it's the only pace it would fit, lol I did some rearranging of the bottom and put the meter on top. DMM's really pretty tough when they have the protective cover on. I have never had one fail because it got dropped or hit with something else. Just waiting to long for the battey change has destoyed a few of them. Thats a 15 dollar Craftsman. It's about 7 years old, has seen some real action. I've had one of the HF 1.99 units in my Gig case I use to make repairs to guitars while on the road.(people will steal your music equiptment faster than anything I know of). I've had to use it a good bit and it gets throw down, dropped and shaken pretty bad and works just fine. My entire guitar repair kit that I take on the road has less than 50 dollars worth of tools (all ****) but the meter holds up well.

the kennedy cantilever is made in ohio...just picked one up today from grainger, yes, it was expensive, but at least it employed some ohio people. and it was well worth it!!!
I ordered a Kennady at the same time as the Excel. It hasn't arrived as of Yet. For a while the Cantilever Kennady box was outsorced in China. I know it's back in the US now and the only reason I paid 160 dollars for it. I saw the excel when I was ordering it and thought for 32 dollars I would like to see it. I can tell you now Ive seen some kennady boxes that didn't impress me as much. I'm really looking forward to the Kennady to get here as I here the new ones are really nice. Despite where the Excell is made it is an excellant box with a super nice finish. Unless the rivets fall out I dont see an issue.
Even buying the Excel I put some money into the pockets of Dock workers, Warehouse workers, truck drivers, stock people, distributors and FedEx personel. China probably didn't get but about 7 dollars of that 32

ill get some tool box **** up tonight!!!

the box is sweet, and the quality is plentiful.

my favorite part about it, is has the tray separators that allow for some good part/tool organization in a hand tool box.

i was originally going to get the proto cantilever, although made in china, im a proto guy and when i saw the kennedy, it was bigger, and had the organizers, so the extra 30 dallors was worth it,

heavy box too, doesnt slide aroundin the back of my jeep, and it is empty right now. and i was hitting turns pretty hard to see if this box would annoy me being in the back.

it passed the test with flying colors.

So from the pictures i gather that you get a free cat with every purchase. what a deal. I choose to use pelican cases for my mobile tools, you can fit enough stuff in them to the point that the case is on the heavy side. Thanxs for the review.

Those Pelican's are 130.00 and more. The pic of loaded Excel is nice, but did I see impacts on there too? If so you must have air/electric impacts? I just ordered the Excel 20" cantilever for my 88' F350 7.3 as it's a diesel and uses a few odd things.

Thanks, JASTECH

No Impacts in my box, I have done some some rearanging since the last photos. I'll get some new photos today of the second round. I'm usually not satisfied until round six, lol

Sorry there was an Impact flip socket in there for changing a tire.

That's a nice box. Im considering something like that as a travel box...

P.S. Have a cat that's almost a twin of yours, he has a little white stripe up his nose in addition but other than that I'd swear yours was Max.

The first shot is of "Miss kitty" she got hit by a car and killed about 2 months ago. Broke my heart. Everytime I would play guitar and sing she was my biggest fan. I really miss her.

IMG_0126-2.jpg

Next up is "Rabbit". She was born a Bobtail and when she run she hops and looks like a rabbit form the rea and is really gentle and stays indoors. When I come in the house she always greets me. She can't make a sound but you can tell she is really trying to talk. She was really sad when Miss Kitty went to heaven.

This is "Boots" She is the kitten in my avatar. She hell on wheels, lol. Very playful and more personality than any animal Ive ever had. The photo in my Avatar is the hoto they used on the animal rescue website. I got them all through animal rescue. I just can't imagine having to dispose of an animal because it has no home.

I ordered the Excel box and still waiting for it to arrive. I have a Kennedy cantilever so I will compare them as I want/need a good tool box in my 88' F350, 73' CJ5, 73' Scout II, 76' Scout II and am selling 2007 RAM 2500HD 24v Cummins with 62k miles for 25k so don't need one for it at that price, lol

Thanks, JASTECH
