When mixing Epoxy-Coat, if the ratio is not exact, will it only increase/decrease dry times? For example, if there is less Activator/Hardner, will this allow more dry time, but the floor will still cure and harden correct?
I ask because I ended up having a lot of extra Activator and just enough of the colored epoxy to do the floor. After watching the instructional video, I thought that they were filling the epoxy until it went up to the second line, pushing up the clear activator above the line, because the 2 layers were separate like oil & water.
I realized that this must not be correct after I did 1/3 of the floor and half of the epoxy was already gone. I had just enough to finish the whole floor though, the other 2/3 of the floor I mixed correctly so that the top level of the activator reached the second line when poring the epoxy into the bucket.
My floor is 1200 Sq ft. I used 3 kits total so i mixed all the part A together and all the part B together as a Batch Mix as the instructions said.
In the end I still had about 1 bucket worth of the activator left from the first 1/3 of the floor.
]The floor looks good so far, a little thin at the very end but I think it will be better after the PolyUrea. It's definitely thicker in the first 1/3 that i did.
I'm doing the Polyurea (sp) early tomorrow morning in the required 18-24 hr window after doing the epoxy.
