We moved into this house about a year ago. We bought it because in addition to the 2 car garage, it also has my dream garage of 24'x36' attached.
Since moving in, I've been remodeling the house. Started with the family room, did the master bathroom, and bedroom. The kitchen addition is next.
I've had to keep all the garden **** in my "shop" garage, because there wasn't any place else to store it.
Since I've been busy remodeling, I haven't had time to build a garden shed, until now.
I finally got around to building a garden shed last week.

First, I had to cut a gate into the fence to get good access to that side of the house. It's a good way to build a gate: Build the fence 1st, then put in extra posts, and cut out the gate....

Then I poured little concrete pads to set the concrete blocks on, then built a frame of 2x8's, and strung 2x6 joists.

I put the floor down, and lined the underneath with plastic mesh to keep the critters out from underneath.

It's 12 foot deep and 8 feet wide. Framing the side walls (the Mrs helped with the wall framing)

The ramp......

Framed the front/back walls and got them up.....

Got the siding put up. The walls are 8' high.

Built the roof trusses and put them up. The roof is 14' long.

I trimmed it with cedar, caulked all the staple holes, and put in the front door......

I built some shelves along 2 walls, and put an old vise I had in there....

And I painted it with some leftover house paint. My Graco airless paint sprayer is worth every penny. I painted the whole thing in 10 minutes. There was no masking involved, but still......10 minutes!

I put the windows in, roofed it, put a lock on the door, and started getting all that garden **** out of my garage.....Woo-hoo.

Super nice job. How much time do you think you have into that?

Thanks. Probably a good 40 hours, and $1200 in materials. I can't believe it cost that much, but it adds up quick.

I found a Senco stapler at Lowes on clearance for $70 from $239, and it really came in handy for the siding and the roof. Much better than my nail gun.

Looks great! Makes me want to replace my dilapidated shed by building a new one myself rather than buying a pre-built one.

They're really simple.
I used 3/4" OSB for this shed, but in my shop where it needs to be heavier duty, I used 3/4" plywood.
The back wall shelves are 24" deep, and the side wall shelf is 16" deep. I ripped the OSB to those depths.
I nailed a stringer across the back at whatever height I wanted, and nailed stringers up the side walls at the same height. I nailed my OSB to the stingers, then set a post or 2 at the stringer height. I nailed a support 2x4 along the front and the open side of the shelf, and nailed it all into the support posts. I toe-nailed the support posts into the floor or the shelves they are sitting on. Where ever there was a support post, I put a support 2x4 running to the back wall.

Here's one more picture with the windows in and the door latch. I got the doors/windows as special order returns or clearance items at Lowes and HD. I've found Lowes marks those things down much more drastically than HD. If you find the markdown windows and doors 1st, and build your shed around those, you can save alot.

Great looking shed ! Good call on the varmit barrier too. Before you spread out the gravel did you put down any plastic sheeting ? Oh, nice score on the Senco too !

Yes, the previous owners put down landscape barrier under the rock, because there was water problems in the basement. That's why I didn't want to dig the posts in the ground; I didn't want to disturb the barrier.

I bought the Senco before I even knew what I was going to use it for, just because it was such a deal. But I was really glad I had it.

That's a shed alright!! I love that siding too: easy-peasy. I hear you on the materials cost - I built a near-replica of your shed for my kids treehouse and it was $500 in materials.
