I like drawing the everything that goes in the room on separate pieces of paper to scale. That way you can more them around. Works great for in the house on how a room can be organized and my back likes it to!

Tried a number of online links, either they were to limited or required a learning curve, so I went with EZ Architect, easy to use, can create multiple revisions easily. Easy to rearrange object such as wall, tools, windows just by dragging.

Also after you get a preliminary sketch I would recommend chalking up the sketch on a parking lot to scale; I used a beach parking lot which had no cars parked. Gives you a realistic idea of the spaces between tools. cars etc.

Or a combination....
Print out a diagram from these site using the pre-drawn objects, then cut out each for your paper objects to play with.
