Good day all ! Here is the story.
I needed to move one of my garage post in order to have more space to enter my van in my garage.

I opted for building a 90 degrees post to get 16" more clearance. I could not move my car port main beam due to the way the 1970 home was built. I decided to give it a shot and built a post.

Here is the pictures, let me know what you think,
Cheers,
Ben

Car port post - 2/2

It ended up being not bad at all. I need to replace all other 3 as I will be redoing the asphalt and the 3 others were moving when machinery was nearby.

Here you go.

The problem was really the post close to the garage.
But I will most likely make them all the same.

The version 1 is a simple 90 degrees type.
The version 2 is taking less space under the beam, which leave me more space if I change vehicle in the future. (taller truck etc...)

All metal is 1/4" thick.
Version 2 support plate would be 1/2" (2x 1/4" plate welded) to hold the beam.

It looks good. i like version 2 the best but since you made the first one I would stick with that version also. How deep is the concrete under the post?
