PVC *****. It doesn't lay on the ground well, is more likely to be tripped over, it is constantly getting caught on things. I hate it. The best way to go is a rubber, retractable kit.

pvc is great if you let it sit in the sun on a hot day for about an hour before using it. Stick with rubber hose. I got 1/2 good year hose and love it.

PVC hoses are great for contractors, as the don't get hung up when dragging them across roofs, or through structures. Rubber hose is the only way to go when wrenching in the shop.

Ditto, Ive got two Goodyear 50' PVC hoses, and thats exactly what we use them for, running nailers and staplers, outside. They are cheap, and light, and I hate using them in the shop. This time of year, they are more like sticks than hoses.

FYI: HF has made in USA Goodyear rubber hoses for a good price. There is usually a coupon for 20% off in your favorite mag. Well, maybe your 2nd favorite mag.

FYI goodyear doesnt make goodyear hoses anymore. Theyre made by a company called Veyance Technologies which is owned by The Carlyle Group (google them for interesting reads) and manufactures products with the goodyear name (they bought the product lines from goodyear and closed some plants I believe)

Polyurethane gives you the best of both PVC and Rubber.

It is the lightest, most durable, and flexible of all hoses. It stays flexible in very cold weather, it is 1/3 the weight of rubber, and is much more abrasion resistant than either PVC or Rubber.

If you are running 1/4" fittings, there is zero reason to run 3/8" hose as the hose is restricted by the I.D. of the fitting. If you are using 1/4" body size quick couplers, use 1/4" hose.

If you are running a DA sander or a large impact, etc, you need to run at least 3/8" hose with 3/8" fittings and couplers or go up to 1/2" for large CFM needs.

If you are using it with nailers or staple guns, 1/4" is all you need as these use a large but short burst of air, unless you are putting up shear wall, then you need 3/8"

This comes from 30 years of selling air tools and hose.

I use rubber, PVC is too stiff and difficult to manage in the shop. You won't lose much flow using 1/4" NPT fittings on a 3/8" hose; it will still flow a hell of a lot more air than a 1/4" hose.
