Default New month, new tools: April addition

I didn't buy anything in March, but this month I picked up a new Delta Jointer

http://www.deltamachinery.com/index.asp?e=136&p=942

Right now at Lowe's it's on sale, 15% off (as well as other power tools) and it has a $25 rebate card offer! Normally $219 - 15%= $186 + tax= $202 - $25 rebate= $177

Pretty good deal, I think.

Yep - good deal on the jointer. Ive been wanting one for a while. May have to run in Lowes and check it out. I've had the Delta 12" planer for about 3 years and its a good machine for the money.

I bought very little in March so I need to make up for it in April.

I want that Delta planer. That's what I wanted to buy but didn't have that much more $$ for it. I decided on the jointer because: 1) I could afford it and 2) Doesn't Norm always joint before he planes?

no tools for me this month ... I spent close to $5K last month on a septic system / drainage / landscaping project. And already this month I bought the wife a new fancy-schmancy high efficient front loading washer and dryers ... another $2K.

Haven't bought anything yet, but the month is still young. Was wanting to get out and play with what I got last month, but the weather took a nose dive, 80 on Tues. and 29 Wed.. Had to put the plow back on the truck since their calling for 3-10" of snow this weekend.
May have to look for more than a little propane heater for the garage so I can play year round.

I didn't buy any tools this month, but I am making some. So far I've made a sheetmetal slapper and I'm about halfway done with machining the anvils for the english wheel I'm scratch making.

Pics below! And see threads here:

yeah, delta is making some pretty good stuff for good prices.....

i don't know about norm but if you want to have a flat board to start with, you should face the board with the jointer first, then plane the opposite side until you remove the mill marks.....then, flip it to the side that you faced on the
jointer
.........then plane to desired thickness, paying close attention to the grain pattern...THEN go and edge joint the one edge......then cut to width on the table saw......this gives you two flat faces that are parallel to each other, 4 -90 degree corners and two edges that are parallel to each other.....
