I ordered a Klein 1/2" nut driver on a deal through Amazon. Below is what I received, a VACO 1/2" nut driver. The part # on the driver, package, and Amazon all match. I'm not bitching, mostly curious if they are the same.

The driver is finished well with no rough edges or spurs. The alloy shaft is fully seated. Plus the candy red color is just gorgeous.

To answer your question: Vaco is an electronics tool company Klein purchased a long *** time ago. The plastic-handled screwdrivers and nutdrivers (including the screw-holding slotted drivers) in the Klein catalogue are still branded Vaco. So yeah, they're the same.

I think the cushion-grip Klein nutdrivers are more comfortable (and you can get them magnetic and in stubby and long lengths), but the Vacos look cooler and are easier to identify.

Had the same experience at Harry Epstein's. Almost called to ask, but then found out that Klein bought out Vaco. Regardless, I'm happy with mine.

Have a good smell of that nut driver.

I was just thinking that! You beat me to it. The SAE ones are translucent and smell a bit, and the metric ones are black. I carry a black one for work, it has a smell to it as well, but its not too bad.
