Does anyone know of another source for this box?

http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=170552&navAction=push

I spent a good portion of the afternoon Googling for it, but came up empty. These were sold at Sam's Club, and apparently they're all out of stock and I read that it won't be restocked, but the price was $899 or around there. The price point is great for the storage capacity, but I'm sure it's not the most well built box. I think it's been sold under the Steel Glide and SteelTek brands. If anyone knows of another source for this thing, please let me know, as I'd like to check it out.

I think it is a sam's club only. Seen one in a customer's shop. Compared to the macismizer next to it, it looked like junk. Keep hounding your uncle for that mb1600 from the other thread, way better box.

lol. Yeah, I'd rather have a truck brand box, but I've decided to keep my box budget at $1K or less (less being better. haha), so I'm looking at everything. :willy_nil

I'm sorry I'm not smart enought to link, graigner 54 by 18 Proto 14 drawer bottom. It's above your budget at $1518.00 which is a graigner over price. If I was looking for a home box, this would be it, no full width drawers, but I'd get over it.

I'm not sure how opposed you are to the idea but for the money the Harbor Freight boxes are hard to beat. They are a super quality, ball bearing, thick gauge, etc. They offer a 45" lower box for $400, a 45" upper box for $300, a side cabinet for $200, a tall side locker for $200 and a short side locker for $200. At one time they offered it in black and red. They may still offer it in black but for substantially more money.

Bottom Cabinet
Top Chest
End Cabinet
Short Side
Tall Side

They also offer a 56" cabinet for $800.

Right now, the Harbor Freight boxes are at the top of my list...a lot of bang for the buck there. I'll probably break down and pop on the bottom, top, and two tall side lockers for $1K this week and be done with it. I do find it very hard to drop any serious cash in that place, but it's a great value.

For what it's worth, I was in my local Sam's club Saturday, and they had that "stainless" steel box on display. And I'm talking Dayton, Ohio...not TOO far from southeast PA. If you cannot find another, and really want this one, let me know. I could go buy it for you and hold it in reserve till you pick it up. I did not look at it closely, and have NO IDEA how good or bad that it is.

I personally have the bottom and the end cabinet. The only issue I have with them is the drawers are a little bit shallower than most units. The fact that there are so many of them makes this pretty much moot however.

I have one I got from sams a year or so ago. It is a good buy, I will buy several more as soon as I see them at sams again.

Thanks for the offer Lump, but with something that pricey, I really want to see it in person before plunking down the moolah. It's odd, I checked their site and they list the Dayton store as being out of stock as well, so perhaps the inventory portion of their site isn't maintained all that well. I'll call around to some of my local stores and see if any of them have one in stock that I can take a gander at.

The sams in centerville OH has them or did 5 days ago.I stood in front of that thing for 30 min opened every drawer. but left empy handed.I was afraid II would not be happy with it latter. I dont think the stainless is of very good quaility.

For the price they cant be beat. It works just fine for me I roll it around a big shop all day long and open the drawers a zillion times a day, hasn't broke yet. Lot of guys up here laugh at me about it and im sure they would anywhere so if peer pressure bothers you then buy a snap on or matco box... But if you're a budget conscious guy who wants a good box for 1/8th of snap on price then this is what you need.

Went to the Centerville Sam's first and they did not have it. Stopped by the Beavercreek Sam's and they had both the 26" and the 41" sets. I was not that impressed with either.

It is not the same box as listed at the top of this thread. I should have got the stock numbers but I did not.

Thanks for everyone's input...it's much appreciated. I called around to all the local and semi-local Sam's Clubs this morning, and none of them had one. I got off the phone with the last one, and off to Harbor Freight I went...came home with the 41" top, bottom, and 7 drawer side cabinet.

That is what I am leaning towards myself. That or the Menards boxes. Or, maybe I'll get a used Vidmar or Lista cabinet.
