I've never had much of a use for one since it seems like most use them on lifted trucks. But I've always thought about getting one just to have since they do come in handy for other things also. Last year I needed to pull some fence posts and used my engine hoist and it wasn't the right tool for the job. It bent some of the steel on the engine crane. I was looking at the fleet farm ad this week and saw the taller one was on sale for 20 bucks off at 69.99. It's the all cast one which from what I have read is a little nicer then the cast/steel one. It's the 60" tall version. Today a family member asked if I could pull some shrubs out for her. I don't have a truck and thought this would be a perfect excuse to buy a new jack. Decided today was the day to pick one up.
Hooked a sling up to the shrub and started jacking and then just pulled back on the jack and after a few tries they came right out. Worked really slick. I know these weren't in there that well but it still made things easy and the jack worked great. Made in the USA and very well built. Very happy with the purchase and wanted to share the deal for those of you that have a fleet farm or farm and fleet.
The real reason I wanted one was to make one of these fence post pullers,
. Here's another version,
. I'm going to pick up some steel this winter and work on putting together one like the oz version with wheels for the next time I need to replace a fence post. Seems like someone needs some posts replaced or shrubs pulled every year so it will get used a lot. Might start a new thread on the post puller in the future but wanted to share the sale and my review of the jack.
